US businesses interested in Kuwaiti diverse economy - WBG official

WASHINGTON, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- US businesses and companies are interested in Kuwait's strategy to diversify its economy, said Dr. Merza H Hasan, Executive Director and Dean of the Board of Executive Directors for the World Bank Group (WBG) here Thursday.
Speaking to KUNA and Kuwait television after the first US-Kuwaiti Economic Forum Dr. Merza Hasan said that the event, gathering major American enterprises and Kuwaiti private sector bodies, had succeeded in showcasing Kuwait's economic plans and strategies to US companies.
Bringing more American investments to Kuwait will be beneficial for the Gulf State's economy, said the WBG official who indicated that several US participants expressed their interest in what the State of Kuwait is doing to attract investors.
He noted that the Kuwaiti side had presented not only opportunities in Kuwait but also displayed lucrative investments in the region which will hopefully would attract major US corporations and businesses.
The First US-Kuwait Economic Forum was held on the sidelines of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to the US capital Washington D.C. (end) asf.si.gta
