World Bank partners with Palestinian Authority to achieve long-term development goals

RAMALLAH: The World Bank stated that it is working with the Palestinian authorities to raise the economic growth rates based on a long-term development program.

Country Director for West Bank and Gaza, Kanthan Shankar, said that the bank has numerous programs that contribute to achieving the economic growth, building the state institutions, in addition to the projects that fulfil the direct needs, specially the development programs which are evidently undergirding the Palestinian resilience, indicating that World Bank's strategy in the Palestinian lands which extends to four-year period was presented to the board of directors four years ago, and focuses on achieving the economic diversification, enhancing resilience, accomplishing the long-term development goals, eradicating poverty and others. 

Shankar explained that the bank is operating in tandem with the Palestinian authorities in a transition from emergency programs to strategic plans that aimed at boosting the development in Palestine and empowering the private sector.
