Arkansas filmmaker celebrates opening night on the big screen
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Jonesboro is one of the six Arkansas cities showing the movie in theaters.
The film “Hard Miles” was written and directed by Bentonville native Daniel Hanna. The film will be shown at over 500 movie theaters across the nation, including the Malco Jonesboro Towne Cinema. The first showing in Jonesboro was at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19.
Hanna said he didn’t expect the movie to be shown in his home state. He said it was up in the air until a couple of weeks ago.
“Now we’re in six theaters across the state so that’s great,” Hanna said. “It’s awesome for people I grew up with or who work with my parents to go and see it.”
Hard Miles tells the true story of a prison social worker who forms a cycling team of teenage convicts and takes them on a transformative 1,000-mile bike ride, according to Malco.
Hanna said the film will show at the Jonesboro Malco for a few weeks.
