The Nebraska Golf Association has named Fremont’s John Sajevic as the 2018 Nebraska Senior Amateur Golfer of the Year for a record sixth time.
Sajevic has now won the honor six of the seven years it has been awarded, winning in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. He was also the Nebraska Amateur Golfer of the Year in 1989 and 1996.
The 62-year-old Sajevic continues to earn his place in the record books. During the 20th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship at ArborLinks in May. Sajevic won a record third Senior Amateur title, and did so in spectacular fashion, setting several other records along the way.
His final round 66 (-6) is the lowest score in championship history, and his 139 (-5) 36-hole total is the second lowest, only behind his own record of 138 (-6), which he set in 2016. His performance resulted in a nine-stroke victory, establishing a record for winning margin. The previous mark was five strokes.
